My name is Estelle. I'm from Togo in West Africa. I take English classes at BCC. I need English because I was a software developer in my country and now I want to get a similar job in New York.

2. What has changed in your life since you started your adult education class? How has adult education helped to support your goals and plans for the future?

I gained confidence. When I first came here I was very shy, and I was ashamed. I was afraid to talk to people, I was afraid to be judged.

Adult education is one of the best ways to help me realize my goals

3. What do you think would be different about NY or the world if everyone had the opportunity and support to continue their education?

I think education can open your mind. You can talk with people about many subjects. You can discover more of the world. You can evolve yourself and the people around you. You can preserve your health, too. People would earn more money, and not waste time using drugs.
