One thing that quarantine and shelter-in-place has allowed (forced?) me to do again is worm composting! Since the farmers markets and the Department of Sanitation in NYC stopped picking up food scraps at the beginning of quarantine, our compost pile (kept in bags in the freezer, and then the fridge) grew very quickly.
A few weeks ago, it became clear that we'd have to find another way to compost on our own (or else throw away the food scraps in the regular garbage, which I couldn't bear to do). So we ordered 500 worms online, gathered newspaper from the neighborhood, and set up a compost bin we hadn't used in over 10 years. Here's to those awesome little red wrigglers (those are the worms)!
