I come from Vietnam. I need English to get an office job. I have administrative experience in my home country, but I have difficulty acquiring a job in the U.S.. Most of the job postings require excellent English communication and my English speaking is not very good. In addition to having a job, English will help me understand different cultures and expand my network. Especially, being fluent in English will enhance my confidence.

2. What has changed in your life since you started your adult education class? How has adult education helped to support your goals and plans for the future?00:00The adult education class offers me opportunities to practice English speaking, make friends, and learn about the U.S. and different cultures. Thanks to the adult education class, I've enjoyed a good time playing games with classmates, watching movies, and sharing our opinions in English. I've also had wonderful field trips regarding the books we read in class. For example, we visited a community garden in Harlem because the book we read is about community gardens.

3. What do you think would be different about NY or the world if everyone had the opportunity and support to continue their education?00:00If everyone had an opportunity and support to continue their education, no one would be excluded from education. Parents would not need to work very hard to afford their children’s tuition fees. There would not be any older siblings giving up their education so that the younger one could pursue theirs. People would live in a world where living and awareness would be enhanced, and crime would decrease.
